Or, port directly to the XT, we will see how that goes. A phone will still be present in the ecosystem, but I desire to manage and plan from some larger screen device, and then transport via phone to the XT. So, what I am looking for, what I want to do, is disconnect myself from WinPC based BaseCamp (the app.), or WinPC Chrome web-based Garmin product (Explore), and move to travelling with a "large" screen tablet running Android, and manage these "file based objects" (tracks, routes, waypoints, etc.
WHAT SHOULD BE THE MAP NAME ON GARMIN MOBILE XT SDMMC ANDROID
Said a different way: Who is using an Android Phone Chrome web-based app., or a Phone dedicated Mobile app., to manage these (system of files based objects)? I hesitated to call them "files" directly, or just "tracks", or just "things", because it can become confusing about what I'm referring to manage. Is anyone using something other than a WinPC BC app, or a WinPC web-based app., to successfully manage Tracks and / or Routes and / or Waypoints etc. The last method uses just the Phone, with a pre-planned route available before you go that did not use BaseCamp.Ĭlick to expand.I see many folks are apparently still connected to BaseCamp. The method described uses a couple android devices (Tablet and Phone), tethered via WiFi and BT. The whole reason I'm jabbering on about this, is for those interested in leaving the WinPC based Basecamp behind at home. Success! No Tablet used, and loaded a previously saved trip from Chrome web based Furkot app, via WiFi. I note the new trip is present, and I select it. Select "OK".Īpps / Trip Planner / Saved Trips. I note new tracks, new trips, and new locations added to saved locations. Allow BT connection to complete (~10 secs). OK, you bet! (Do not send yet).Įnable BT on phone. I note "GPX File Received, would I like to send it?". I note trip file is present in local phone storage. Trips / (Folder with Up Arrow) / Export Trip (as GPX, default and only type allowed). I note the saved trip is there, and I select it. On XT: Apps / Trip Planner / Saved Trips / Select the saved trip / Wrench / Delete trip. On phone: Close Garmin Drive, and delete the downloaded file from phone storage. Now try a new path using phone based Furkot. On the XT, I see the inbound content, and then display it on the XT map. On the phone, I select "Send", and the file transfers to the XT. I see the phone announce Zumo "connected for audio". Allow BT connection to complete (~ 10 secs). On the phone, I enable the phone bluetooth, and then I cold boot power up the XT. Would I like to send it to your Garmin device?" Why yes, I would! (Do not send yet). But, I'm a good solider, I'll follow directions.ĭrive announces "GPX file received. OK, I do this with some trepidation of "doubled data" by using Drive directly, and not Explore. On the face of it, there is no phone based Furkot use. Click to expand. From here, your directions get sketchy.
